FLOW CUE

PROJECT INTELLIGENCE

Fall 2025 - 5 weeks

The goal of this project was to identify an everyday problem and create a solution.

I created FlowCue, a shower light designed to keep you on schedule.

For this project I was to use an Arduino Circuit Board and sensors.

FINDING THE REASON

Research shows that over 40% of adolescents have a hard time waking up in the morning. Additionally 50-60% of Americans shower in the morning. So many people struggle with mornings and showing up on time. I want to create a product that brings consistency to routines.

INSPIRATION

2D EXPLORATION

Initial sketches, exploring the idea of a wall mounted or being attached to shower head. My vision is to not only design a light that keeps you on schedule, but also provides an experience.

ITERATIONS

STORYBOARD

PROTOTYPING

Created a low fidelity model to visualize design three dimensionally. After creating this model I adjusted the size by making it thinner.

CAD

Creating a detailed final model in CAD, designing the internals of the product to comfortably fit all components.

BUILD PROCESS

3D printing body and laser cutting frosted acrylic panels, glued parchment paper for enhanced diffusion.

Spray painted matte black for aesthetic. Testing the wiring and code outside of the body.

All the internal wiring done, suction cups for wall mounting.

Soldering everything together on the inside.

FINALIZED DESIGN

CREATING AN EXPERIENCE

HOW IT WORKS

Once motion is detected the sequence starts based on a preset duration. The duration can be adjusted to any time spanning from 1-30 minutes. If you decide to adjust the duration mid cycle the sequence will restart and adjust to the new duration. Videos are sped up for demonstration.
